Glasdon Helps Wyre Flounders Swimming Club from Floundering

Continued existence for the club, thanks to a large grant from The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme.

For an impressive 33 years, Wyre Flounders Disabled Adult Swimming Club has offered a quiet, safe environment to help recover from illness, encourage exercise and promote physical and mental well-being amongst disabled adults.

With close to 20 members, the club has seen strong attendance throughout its lifetime, which has contributed to its continued existence and service to the community.

Due to the nature of their disabilities and health issues, as well as family commitments, not all members are able to attend every week. Last year, the number of swimmers tended to fluctuate, leaving a shortfall in some cases for the pool hire costs that arise weekly. However, thanks to a large grant from The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme last year, this shortfall was able to be accommodated, and the ongoing existence of the club was guaranteed.

Unfortunately, pool costs have increased again this April.

Once again, The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme are more than happy to answer the call of Wyre Flounders and have committed to delivering a large grant of £1,500. With this donation, the club will be able to cover any changes arising in pool hire costs and continue providing its services.

The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme provides support for charities and community projects with donations, grants and fundraising initiatives. All activities are funded by Glasdon Group Limited, with the full support of our Founder and Chairman, Donald J Sidebottom MBE, FCIHT and the Board of Directors.
