Thank You Letters

Thank you letters from just a few of the organisations we support through donations and more.

20th April 2022

from Rosemere Cancer Foundation

Thank you so much to the D J Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme for the grant to Rosemere Cancer Foundation's Cardiothoracic Tissue and Bio-Fluid Research Bank.
Your generous donation will help to enable more research into the better diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer, improving outcomes rates for the disease across Lancashire and South Cumbria. Without your support, projects like this would certainly not be possible.
We are so grateful for your support and look forward to updating you in due course as to the difference we have been able to make.

Yours sincerely,

Rebecca Arestidou

from The Great North Air Ambulance Service

I am writing on behalf of The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) to thank the DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme for supporting our charity with a donation.
Your donation will help people in our region such as Abi Law who was involved in a head-on collision with a van in Cambois, Northumberland. GNAAS’ critical care team was called to the scene and assessed and treated Miss Law before airlifting her to the Royal Victoria infirmary in Newcastle, Miss Law said:
“I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be here today without the support and help from the air ambulance. Even police and doctors have told us that as well. GNAAS are absolutely amazing in everything they do. Without a doubt.”
Last year we were called out 1640 times across our region. To enable us to continue to provide this service, we must raise more than £5m every year. We couldn’t be there for people like Abi without the generosity of the communities that serve and greatly appreciated grants such as yours.

Yours sincerely,

Grace Daji

from Lancashire Teaching Hospitals

On behalf of Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Charity could I thank The D J Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme so much for the grant we have just received towards the cost of a RockinR’ Medical Gaming Cart, for the benefit of young patients at Royal Preston Hospital.
The generosity of the D J Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme is helping us to continue raising vital funds to ensure our hospitals are equipped with the very latest in technology, and help make out hospitals just that little more comfortable for children and their families.
I look forward to updating you in the next 12 months as to how the grant has made a real difference.

With heartfelt thanks,

from Samaritans of Lancaser & District

Thank you for your recent cheque, once again supporting out work.
Without donations and grants received, we would be unable to continue supporting our many callers, which we have been fortunate to continue doing throughout the pandemic.
Donations such as yours support the upkeep of our centres, also enable us to undertake outreach work, making as many people as possible aware that Samaritans are here for them in any time of distress and despair.

21st December 2021

from Aiming Higher Charity

I am writing to you on behalf of the team at Aiming Higher to acknowledge receipt of the donation from the D J Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme. Your donation will contribute to the young people and children we support at Aiming Higher.
As you are well aware, we support families with disabled children, many of whom are at increased risk from the coronavirus and/or have needs which made self-isolation and the resulting re-opening of society more difficult for their families. Aiming Higher provides these families with the opportunity to get out and make friends after a long time in lockdown.
Thank you for your incredibly generous donation. We wish you and all associated with the D J Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme well and hope that you all remain safe and in good health.

Best Wishes,

15th December 2021

from Together We Can Do

The trustees would like to thank you for the donation which was received in late October 2021; it will be used to support social activities for our members. As a result of the COVID restrictions our social activities have been limited to date, but a Christmas Party on 15ᵗʰ December had been arranged. Unfortunately, owing to the recent significant increase in COVID cases, the trustees have today decided that this should be postponed until 2022.
Whilst the scope of our social activities has been limited, the charity has been successful in running regular sports and exercise activities. We now have 76 disabled members and regular events operating within the Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre areas. We hold ten pin bowling sessions at YMCA Thornton each Monday, whilst multi-sports activities take place on Thursday mornings at the Blackpool Sports Centre which are followed by dance sessions in the afternoon.
Thank you once again for your donation Regards

from Claremont First Steps Community Centre

What a lovely surprise to receive your donation on coming into work this morning. We would like to take this opportunity to thank your Charitable Giving Committee for once again thinking of us.

Like all Charities and indeed businesses we have certainly suffered over the last eighteen months, but we are really looking forward to coming out of all the restrictions and trying to get back to normal in the next few months.

We have a lot of ideas in the pipeline to welcome our members old and new to start getting back to some kind of normality and your donation will help us to bring those ideas to fruition and get some parties started.

Once again a big thank you from us all here at Claremont First Steps for your very generous donation.

Yours sincerely,

Cathy Adams

24th June 2021

from Aiming Higher Charity

I am writing to you on behalf of all the team at Aiming Higher to thank you for your generous grant. This will support us in providing trips for children with disabilities and their families to help counter the feelings of isolation that many of them experience.

As you are well aware, we support families with disabled children, many of whom are at increased risk from the Coronavirus and/or have needs which have made self-isolation more difficult for their families. Many are also facing increased financial hardship, and resulting anxiety especially over the lockdown period, and indeed as lockdown eases. As the world starts to reopen and we are available to take families out again this funding will no doubt bring a smile to many faces.

Thank you once again for your incredibly generous donation. We wish you, your family and all associated with the Glasdon Charitable Giving Committee well.

Best Wishes,

Hayley Kay

31st March 2021

from Trinity Hospice

Thank you so much for supporting the patients at Trinity and their families with your kind donation.

The last 12 months have been like no other – we saw how Covid-19 took hold of the whole world, and we saw how our community reacted, doing what they could to support our local hospice during such an uncertain time.

We have had to change some of our processes, but we have not changed how we care for all those who need us, and will always support patients and their families.

We are looking to the future with much more positivity, and hope that we are able to put some of our fundraising events and activities on that you are so used to seeing from us.

Again, thank you for all you do for us. Your continued kindness means so much to so many.

Yours sincerely,

27th March 2021

from New Comfort Zone Blackpool

We would like to thank you for another generous donation from Glasdon.

We currently welcome around 62 people each Tuesday: some of them homeless and all of them struggling in these difficult times.

They all receive a hot brunch and drinks, a large bag of food to take away and a choice from a large selection of tinned food. Anyone who is homeless also gets help with emergency items such as sleeping bags.

It will be so much easier when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted sufficiently to allow us to bring our community indoors and be able to sit with them and listen.

Yours sincerely,

Gwen Cross
Secretary
