Going the Egg-stra Mile for a Local South Shore Haven

This Easter, Glasdon rolled out support for The Hub @ South Shore.

The Hub @ South Shore, run by South Shore Community Partnership Ltd, is more than just a building; for many in Blackpool, it is a vital lifeline. With a monthly footfall of over 2,000 people, the charity focuses on a single, powerful mission: tackling loneliness and isolation. From arts, crafts, and seated exercise to acting as a home for groups like the Scouts, AA and Bipolar self-help circles, the Hub provides a warm, welcoming space where residents of all ages can build friendships and learn new skills.

For some visitors, the staff and volunteers at the Hub are the only people they speak to all day. That is why a central part of the Hub’s mission is the simple act of sharing a meal. By serving food four days a week, the Hub ensures that those who live alone have a place to sit, chat, and feel part of a supportive community.

As Easter approached, The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme hopped into action to support the Hub’s visitors, donating 50 Easter eggs to be enjoyed by local families, and ensuring the holidays were a little bit sweeter for those in the South Shore area. In February of this year, The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme also made a donation of £3,100 to help support two of the Hub’s most impactful initiatives, subsidised community lunches, which provide affordable, nutritious meals for older residents in a social setting, and family nights, which offer a safe and fun environment for isolated parents and children to connect.
