Glasdon Give a Helping Hand with SVP Fleetwood Food Bank Donation

The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is a charity that aims to tackle poverty in all its forms through practical assistance to those in need, and one of the ways is through its members running and assisting at various food banks around the country.

SVP Fleetwood Food Bank offers parcels to people in need locally that are in food poverty, who cannot afford healthy food and therefore cannot maintain a nutritious diet.

Glasdon Charitable Giving Committee were proud to donate to the Food Bank.

We have received a lovely email from the Secretary of the Fleetwood Food Bank - Colin Brown, thanking us for the donation:

On behalf of the SVP Fleetwood Food Bank I would like to thank you, your Committee and all your colleagues for your continued support of the Food Bank once again at this time of year with your very generous cheque donation of £500.

Without the very generous support of schools, churches, organisations and individuals we would not be able to provide an average of about 35 food parcels each week which help to feed between 70 and 90 local people, adults and children, who cannot afford to put food on their table for whatever reasons, as we do not receive any financial assistance from any statutory organisations and are completely dependent on voluntary donations of food and on some occasions money.

This year so far, with the help of these very generous donations, we have been able to give out over 1000 food parcels which have helped to feed over 1750 adults and over 1325 children a total of more than 3075 persons.
