Maintaining Faith in the Community

More than just a faith-based gesture, thanks to a substantial grant.

Founded in 2019, Faith in the Community is a merger of two local Christian-based community projects that provide support and assistance to the people of Fleetwood.

The projects support families and single people facing difficult times following redundancy, illness, debt, adverse changes, or delays in benefits.

The first is Mustard Seed. Developed in 2012 to provide hot meals and open house to people in need in Fleetwood on Monday evenings, Mustard Seed sees an average of 50 people attend its Monday sessions. The project also developed the Mustard Seed shop, which is open 3 days a week and provides over 250 people per week with assistance and food parcels.

The second project is The Food Bank, which was developed with the assistance of St. Vincent De Paul Charity and provides up to 35 food parcels per week to families and individuals in need.

May 2020 saw the addition of The Pantry, through which Faith in the Community channels its services. The Pantry operates out of a purpose-built facility at Fleetwood Hospital and assists people in crisis.

This year, The DJ Sidebottom / Glasdon Charitable Programme has provided a donation of £5,000 to Faith in the Community’s The Pantry. This donation will help The Pantry to continue to provide vital services such as hot meals, food packages and vital support to the community of Fleetwood.
