Spreading Glasdon Cheer for all to Hear

We recognise that the festive period can prove to be a challenging period for charities and their surrounding communities. During a time that celebrates inclusion, family and gift-giving, we wanted to give back to the people that need it most.

Instead of sending Company Christmas Cards, we’ve opted to present two meaningful charities with donations to ensure their fantastic work can continue over the winter months and into the new year.

Caring Matters Now

A company donation of £500 will be given to the UK charity ‘Caring Matters Now’ which assists those affected by Congenital Melanocytic Naevi (CMN), a genetic condition where dark brown hairy birthmarks can cover up to 80% of the body, which can also grow internally. CMN causes fragility and dryness in the skin, therefore leading to an uncomfortable life of itchiness and even skin tearing.

The charity offers a 3-year strategy plan to achieve the three main aims of support, research and awareness. Through intermediate support that offers regular contact with staff and other members, or long-term support such as regional gatherings and annual psychosocial projects, they aim to improve the quality of life for those affected. On the other hand, their research focuses on pioneering CMN research to ultimately find a cure, meanwhile, their awareness strategy aims to raise national and international attention to the condition.

The Pituitary Foundation

The second donation of £500 will be given to ‘The Pituitary Foundation’, a patient support organisation offering expert medical information to people affected by disorders of the pituitary gland. They are the UK’s leading charity in this sector, with a subscribed member rate of around 2,300 people. Their goal is to assist their members along their journey through modern and trustworthy support, developing the community around the patients, raising awareness of pituitary conditions, and improving knowledge and understanding of how to care for those affected.

Due to the current cost of living crisis, we have also made extra donations of £5,000 to Blackpool Food Bank, Fylde Food Bank, and Faith in the Community, all of which provide crucial hot meals and social respite to members in and around their respective communities.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all these charities for their commitment and passion to care and support within their local communities.

The DJ Sidebottom/Glasdon Charitable Programme provides support for charities and community projects with donations, grants and fundraising initiatives. All activities are funded by Glasdon Group Limited, with the full support of our Founder and Chairman, Donald J Sidebottom MBE, FCIHT and the Board of Directors.
